A few minutes of checking can stop strangers using your connection - or worse.

Most home and small-office WiFi is set up once and never looked at again. These quick checks cover the most common weaknesses.

  • Change the router admin password from the default printed on the label.
  • Use WPA2 or WPA3 security with a long, unique WiFi password - not WEP or an open network.
  • Keep the router firmware up to date, or replace routers your provider no longer supports.
  • Set up a separate guest network for visitors and smart devices.
  • Switch off remote administration and WPS if you do not need them.

Businesses and holiday lets should go further: separate networks for staff, guests and equipment keep customers away from your files. We can survey, design and install this for you.
